Got Eggs?

Doran and I started our Easter celebration a little early this year since we are going up to Smithfield for Easter. We decided to be kids and dye Easter eggs. It was tons of fun. We picked up different kits including Tye Dye and Camo.... The eggs turned out awesome.

The top row of eggs are mine (Jill's). The Bottom row of eggs are Doran's. I think they turned out cute! :) You are never too old to dye eggs.

He got really into it....

I love my adorable husband.

love....

The dark green egg with the face on it is the Carter egg... in honor of my new nephew that was born today! Heather had a new baby boy this morning, little baby Carter.....

So cute and perfect. I can't wait until we get to meet him. Congrats Heather and Ryan and Blake! :)

Home is Where the Heart Is

The past few weeks we have added a few new additions to our apartment. And no... not babies or pets... but pillows and flowers! I love decorating! I've done a couple cute home crafts, added new pillows to our couch, and a new flower by the TV. Here are pics!

Bamboo from Ikea. Super Cheap! :)

Thanks Mom for the cute vase! I love it!

I copied one of my Mom's decorations. I love the way it turned out!

Teal pillow from Tai Pan.. $7! Brown round from Wal Mart $5!

I made this for Relief Society. They needed someone to make the demo so I did it. It was super easy and really fun to do.

We love our tiny apartment and decorations always make it feel a little more like home. This week has been crazy busy with tests... but I think it's starting to slow down. We are as happy as can be and are excited to celebrate our 6 month anniversary on Friday. Hope all is well!

School is a DOOZY...

I havn't blogged lately because nothing exciting has been going on in our lives. School is pretty much taking over, keeping us up until 2 in the morning and waking us up around 7. However, I never blogged about Christmas so I can do that. For Christmas we went up to my parents house in Smithfield, Utah. We spent a little over a week up there and enjoyed the company of my family. It was so nice to get away from Provo and relax for a little while before starting school up again. We also got the chance to take family pictures in the freezing snow! And then some in our house. They turned out cute... I love my family...

Valentine's day was good, but kind of a bummer considering my husband was not feeling too well. He did make me breakfast in bed (french toast) and wrote me a beautiful letter. Then we went to church (where we are primary teachers for the 6-7 year olds, LOVE IT) and then went to babysit his sister's handsome twin boys. By this time Doran was feeling much better, however, the second we got back home he got sick again. We decided to celebrate Valentine's day today with dinner and a movie. We've gone on lots of little dates in the past few weeks, so I think that makes up for it.

So there it is... the life of two busy college students. We are having so much fun being married and I can't believe next month will mark our 6 month anniversary. Doran is a wonderful husband and I feel lucky to be married to him. It wasn't a big deal to me that Valentine's Day wasn't a spectacular event this year because Doran treats me like it's Valentine's Day every single day of my life. I am constantly coming home to flowers and candles, notes in my notebook, post-its on the mirror, and smoothies in the freezer. So I guess I'm pretty lucky, because every day is Valentines day to me. :) Happy Blogging!

A Lot To Catch Up On.....

I know I havn't updated in forever, so I'm going to do a quick post of our last 5 months. Doran and I had a wonderful summer planning our wedding and getting excited to start our lives together. We were married and sealed forever on September 5, 2009 in the Salt Lake City Temple. It was a beautiful day and we were so grateful and blessed to have so much family in town for the wedding. It was the perfect day! We spent the rest of our weekend at the Little America hotel in Salt Lake. It was so much fun. However, we had to back at school on Tuesday so the Honeymoon was short lived.

Since we got married, we've been enjoying every second we've spent together. It's really hard to spend lots of time together with both of us going to school and working. So for my birthday weekend (November 1) we spent a couple days at the Zermont Resort up in Midland, UT. We really enjoyed our time together and a weekend away from Provo. The highlight of the weekend was going snorkeling in the Crater. The Crater is a natural hot spring inside a cave. It was so much fun to swim around and watch scuba divers below us.

Thanksgiving break was WONDERFUL! The day before Thanksgiving we went to the David Archuleta concert in Salt Lake. It was a birthday present from my wonderful husband. We both loved the concert and loved the start of a wonderful break. We spent Thansgiving and the day after with all of Doran's family at his sister's house in Midvale, UT. We had absolutely wonderful food and were showered with gifts of homemade jam, homemade spaghetti sauce, apples, and many other goodies. We got to open our Christmas gifts as well which included a beautiful wreath for our door. Doran and I both participated in Black Friday and were able to get decorative pillows for our bed and a new plasma screen TV. I would say we were pretty successful, but tired. We very much enjoyed hanging out with Doran's family and with all our wonderful nieces and nephews. On Saturday and Sunday we hung out with my family. Doran was able to finally meet my Orme grandparents and we enjoyed cheering on the cougars during the long football game. We love our families and feel so blessed to have them in our lives.

Until Christmas, we are just finishing up our classes and praying that we do well. We only have one more week of classes and then finals. We can't wait until Christmas and to see my family again. So until then, Merry Christmas to everyone and I hope you are all doing well! Love ya!

What Happens in Vegas....

This past weekend Doran and I went down to Vegas to visit some of my friends and to get away from the rainy weather Provo had been experiencing. Doran had never been to Vegas so I made sure he got the full tourist experience. We hung out in Henderson, my home town, on Friday and I showed him around there. On Saturday we went to a buffet, went to the strip for some shopping, rode the New York, New York rollercoaster, watched the Bellagio fountains, went to the Bellagio gardens, and visited M&M World and the Coke Factory. We were pretty exhausted by the end of the day, so we went back to my friend Natalie's house where we were staying. Doran enjoyed playing video games with Natalie's husband Austin, while Nat and I caught up on girl talk. Sunday we went to my old ward to see some old friends, took a quick nap, and drove back to Provo just in time for me to go to work at midnight! It was a busy weekend, but so much fun!

In the pictures you will notice that my hair is a little darker than usual. I got it done this past week by a friend. I told her to dye it a little ligher then my natural color, however it turned out nearly black. It has faded a little and i'm starting to get use it being dark. I hope it looks ok for our engagement pictures this Saturday! :)

We continue to count down the days to our wedding. We still have lots of plans to go, but we are enjoying every minute of it. Doran started a new, 2nd job at the Cinemark Theaters today so we are going to have to get use to not seeing each other as much as we have before. It will be good for me to start school next Monday so I am busy while he is working close to 70-80 hours a week. It really makes me cherish the times that we do get together and makes me so excited to be able to live with him so I am always there when he gets home! We love being engaged, however I feel we will love life a lot more once we are married! 82 days until the best day of our lives!

Us at Caesar's Palace. Doran loved the Roman statues and loved telling me all that he knew about the ancient Roman Gods.

A good picture of my dark hair! It's fun! I'm definitely getting use to it.

The Strip from one of the walkways. It was such a beautiful day!

At the Townsquare Shops!

The adorable strawberries Doran bought for me. I just love him.

Make Me Babies!

One of my friends told me about this website where you can put in two pictures and it will produce a child using the two faces. I thought this would be a fun thing for Doran and I to do together, because who doesn't want to know what their kids will look like. It was so hilarious! haha. Some of them turned out cute and the other ones.... well... it made me a little nervous to reproduce. Haha. Anyways, I thought I would share with you our Sorensen children. Enjoy! The website is makemebabies.com

Night at the Museum....Literally

So we went to the Bean Museum here at BYU and no, its not about beans, but its a natural history museum. We started off just having fun with the stuffed dead animals, taking funny pictures with them involved. We then moved on to the bugs.... and if you didn't know Doran is afraid of spiders. Well conveniently there was a video on about spiders so we sat down to watch it. During the movie he put his arm around me and while he did that I softly rubbed my fingernail on his hand making him think it was a spider. I thought it would make him just jump a little bit...nope!!! He almost broke the glass display behind us with his elbow!!! It was really funny to me, but he didn't find the humor in it. But the coolest thing happened we sat down and watched a live display about invertebrates. The guy doing the show had a tarantula and the worlds biggest species of cockroach; aka the Madagascar hissing cockroach! He asked if we wanted to hold them, and after some coaxing and motivating we were finally able to do it. It was pretty gross and scary, but at the same time it wasn't as bad as I thought. After the presentation we were talking about the other shows and he took us down to the basement and showed us all of the other cool animals. We were able to even hold a 6'6" boa constricter snake!! That's 2 inches taller than Doran!! It was a great night and intellectually satisfying as well!! What a great date! And it was free! :)
As for the wedding plans, they are coming along great! Every plan we make is one more step closer to getting married. We can't wait to get married!
